Social | Etiquette | Dance

Carolina Cotillion is a memorable experience that offers children an opportunity to learn basic dance steps, to practice proper etiquette, and to socialize with their peers in a structured environment. We believe in the importance of each child and seek to promote positive feelings towards one another. Children are most at ease when they know what is expected of them and are familiar with the proper way to act in various social situations. The mastering of some basic ballroom and shag dance steps can pave the way for future socialization and acceptance as well as prove to be great fun!

Are you interested in having a Junior Cotillion in your local area? Or perhaps, you’d like to gather a small group of your child’s friends for a special lesson or workshop on table etiquette and dining, or simply working on the art of conversation? We specialize in working with children in 5k – 12th grade with age appropriate programs and curriculum suited for each level. Classes are held in four or five week sessions consecutively throughout the school year as well as workshops held in two/three days.  Carolina Cotillion has held classes throughout North and South Carolina.

Niki Sansbury – Carolina Cotillion, Inc.
Owner and Instructor

For more than fifteen years, I have had the privilege of teaching Junior Cotillion, and each season continues to reaffirm why I love this remarkable program. Every season brings a new beginning—children who are eager, attentive, and ready to put their best foot forward. Working with so many young people in our community is deeply rewarding, but it wasn’t until I became a mother myself that I fully understood the lasting importance of instilling kindness in the hearts of our children.

Helping young people learn proper, polite behavior is essential to their success. These skills—though never too late to learn—are most impactful when taught early and practiced consistently. Junior Cotillion offers a welcoming, structured environment where students can develop these life skills with confidence. While understanding which fork to use certainly has its place, Cotillion is truly about something far more meaningful: kindness, respectful behavior, active listening, awareness of others, gratitude, and the ability to navigate social settings with grace.

One of the greatest rewards of this work is watching a child who begins the program feeling nervous or unsure transform within just a few weeks. Their confidence grows, their comfort in social situations expands, and they begin to carry themselves with poise. Many students share with me how much they enjoy learning manners, etiquette, and ballroom dance—often saying they never want Cotillion to end. Helping each child feel comfortable in their own skin and encouraging them to become the very best version of themselves is the heart of what I do.

If you are interested in giving your child the gift of confidence, character, and courtesy, I would be delighted to welcome them into our program.
